some superstitions are good while some are bad! my personal experience!

I’m feeling really bad that I’m not regular these days in blogging. No new updates of mine in facebook, no updates in Twitter too. From past one week I am being dreaming different kind of painful dreams at nights. Along with these I’ve become weak and loosen strength.  Currently I’m absolutely fine, recovered soon.  So far in this generation most of the people don’t believe in superstitions as they think it’s the most unwanted and unimportant time waste categories. Ofcourse I too believed the same so far. But recently when personally I’m coming across such kind of things, I thought I may have to believe.

I’m just thinking how to start telling you on a topic about superstitions as per my opinion right now…

Okay let me start in this way….

Especially in India, we do believe some common superstitions like,
    1.  Do not proceed if a cat come across your way… it is a sign of omen.
    2. Never ask the question, “where are you going?”, while when someone at home leaving house…. It’s is a sign of, the purpose of going will not be fulfilled.
      3. If a lizard makes a sound when you make any statement, it indicates what you said is true.
     4. Sneezing odd number of times indicates something bad could happen.
    5. Cutting nails, hair cuttings, shaving or stitching cloth after sun set is a bad practice.
     6. If there is itching on right palm (left of female), it indicates that you will get money or some favors.
7.      7.  Never sweep the house during night times, it indicates that Lakshmi(money, fortune) will not enter our home.
Etc., etc., etc.,

From the above, almost all of us believe those common superstitions including me, even my family members too. For some superstitions I argue against those.
I’m not totally against superstitions; I believe some of them are good while some of them are bad. And for the 5th point from above, it is so obviously because of no electricity during old periods of times, cutting nails, cutting hair etc., in the dark could be dangerous, but it is still believed as a bad practice.)

These days I have experience with some bad dreams. Like a five floors building height of cobra(snake) was chasing me, cutting my hair with scissors(could clearly seen the scissors in my hand and finally short hair in dream), got stuck in a dark palace where the witches are torturing me etc…

On these kinds of dreams I’ve asked and taken advice regarding what’s the meaning of dreaming these scary plays at nights to my dad, mom, and sisters, and my well wishers. And also I’ve surfed in net. Some of these have got some meaning. I’ve shared my snake dream in facebook such as, “May be i'm being threatening by something these days which even I'm not aware too. What's the meaning of dreaming a snake at nights!!! I'll explain... To see a snake or to be bitten by one in dream, it signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening us. My dream may be alerting me to something in my waking life that I'm not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. I had a dream of an evil kind of snake which was bigger than a 5 floors building which was hurting me...!!!” Therefore dreaming a chasing snake indicates our hidden fears and worries that are threatening us or it indicate a little bit stress about the tasks we got to do. It is considered evil, yet it is the snake, created by God, that tempts man to gain knowledge. In dreams a snake can represent hidden fears. Falling into a pit of snakes may represent many worries that are threatening you. Sometimes snakes can symbolize the poisonous words and innuendo of the people around you.

Regarding hair cut dream: Dreaming of cutting of hair is symbolic to a variety of things. Since you were doing the cutting it means you feel a loss of control with yourself and also suggests that you are experiencing loss in strength. You may feel that someone is trying to censor you.

So finally these are the dreams which I’ve been experiencing since one week. I do think these are common dreams to everyone. This is all about the stress and strain we are having consciously and unconsciously. If we are stressed, our sub-conscious mind plays a scary role.

Later on, to avoid this, I’ve started total focus on Pranayama more than doing asanas, and as per I was not feeling well these days I was not able to do yoga asanas. I can feel the changes when I’ve started total focus on pranayama. Doing of pranayama brings our body and mind in control. It’s a very vast subject, even when I was doing my course in yoga training in Andhra University, I’ve studied lot of stuff regarding pranayama. It has became really very helpful now. All I could say is, the main theme of pranayama is to awaken the kundalini which resides in the sacrum bone at the end of the spinal cord. Only the severe practice can takes us to that stage.
It heals our body and mind. The procedure that takes place in our body when we start doing pranayama, click here to see.
I’ve an idea about writing the subject of yoga in my next blog. That new blog of mine exclusively will be on yoga. I‘ll start shortly…

  1. Superstitions vary Nation to Nation, region to region and religion to religion. Cat is a bad omen here and is worshipped elsewhere.Amavasya is not good for inaugurations here but auspicious in the neighboring state. ‘Which is’ or ‘which is not’ bad/good depends upon how we take it. We should be positive enough to go ahead.
